The world has plenty to say ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????about how to be a man and how to display masculine strength. It talks endlessly about power in terms like...
Might. Competition. Dominance. Aggression. Stoicism. Arrogance. Pride. Winning.
It speaks of the kind of ?strength? that takes, conquers, overpowers, demands, controls, belittles, degrades.
But Yahuah-given strength ? chazaq ? is different.
It?s quieter. Deeper. Gentler. More resilient. More courageous. More enduring. It is strength that builds up, protects, encourages, restores, and redeems ? it is not a strength that crushes. When YAHUAH speaks strength over His men, He speaks in the language of the scriptures. He speaks chazaq.
The Meaning of Chazaq

According to Strong's Concordance, H2388 and H2389, Chazaq (?????) in Abryth (Hebrew) means:
? To be strong
? To be courageous
? Mighty
? To strengthen
? To repair, restore
? To be firm, resolute
? To protect, serve
? To establish
? To be vigilant
? To conquer
? Obstinate
? Lacking mercy
? Stubborn
? Severe, harsh
? Loud, violent
Chazaq appears over 280 times throughout Scripture. When Mashah (Moses) commissioned Yahusha (Joshua), he spoke the words:
?Be strong (chazaq) and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land??
??????????????????????????????????????????????
? Deuteronomy 31:6
When Daud (David) charged Shalamah (Solomon) to build the temple, he said: ?Be strong (chazaq) and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for YAHUAH Alahym, my Aluah, is with you.?
? 1 Chronicles 28:20
Chazaq is strength with a purpose ? not to angrily dominate others, holding them in contempt, but to uphold, to build, to advance the work of YAHUAH.
Strength That Serves
Chazaq is not about outward show. It is the kind of strength that:

It is servant-hearted strength in action. An encouraging strength. Strength that leads by sacrifice, not domineering control. Strength that gives life, not takes it.
A Different Kind of Courage
Those in the world tell men that strength means...
"Emotions are for weaklings"
"If others get hurt, so what"
"Go it alone; rely on yourself"
"Boast in your successes"
"Strive to "win" at any cost"
"Crush anyone who gets in your way"
But YAHUAH shows us another way. Yahuah-embodied strength says:
"Feel emotions deeply yet,"
"Lead according to reason"
"Be rooted in the truth of Turah"
"Walk in humility"
"Trust YAHUAH with all your heart"
"Love and protect those entrusted to you"
"Persevere in every circumstance"
"Life in community and cohesion is good"
"Boast in YAHUAH"
"Do not use your power to serve yourself"
The Negative Side of Chazaq Strength

As we look again at the definitions of the word chazaq, we see strength, courage, fortitude, vigilance, resoluteness. But there is a negative side to all of that power. The negative side of chazaq may manifest as controlling through brute force, lacking mercy, stubbornness, unyielding and inflexible, severe, loud and brash, violent, using power to serve himself or his own agenda.
There is a tendency for those who have been gifted with such power to meander from the light of servanthood to the darkness of excessive displays of strength expressed through harshness, contempt, rage, physical force and violence.

Though meant to be a gift, chazaq strength misapplied can lead to the same hands fashioned by YAHUAH to strongly support a family, a friend, a calling instead becoming so corrupted that it lashes out and injures instead of soothes.
The same mouth created by YAHUAH to encourage and instruct ? instead curses and wounds the souls entrusted to his care. Those gifted with chazaq must be careful to handle with care the gift of strength granted them lest they distress and traumatized those they have been called to gently lead.
Unless a man surrenders his might to the ONE who is ALMIGHTY, the power given him will be misused ? and physical and emotional harm will be the result.
True manhood is not about seeing your wife and children to cower in terror at the roar of your voice raised in anger. It is not about punching walls or smashing faces. It?s about standing firm, rooted in Mashyach ? and using your strength to uplift, protect, heal, encourage and steward.

The greatest acts of strength in Scripture are not acts of conquering ? they are acts of obedience, courage, trust, and surrender. Nuach (Noah), standing upon the strength of his amunah (faith) in the word of YAHUAH, for five years built an ark without first seeing a single drop of rain.
Yusaph (Joseph) remained faithful during his years of ordeal in slavery and his unjust imprisonment, entrusting himself to the one who judges justly.
Yahusha, who is the embodiment of grace (chan) and truth (amath), chose to lay down His life for the good of the many and chose not to use His power to serve Himself. This is true chazaq!
Strength isn?t measured by how brashly or how dominantly you lead or insist on your own way. Strength is measured by how faithfully you carry and care for what has been entrusted to you.
YAHUAH's Chazaq in Action
Men who live for YAHUAH through Master Yahusha are blessed (baruk) with grace (chan), walk in truth (amath) and are enrobed in strength (chazaq). They always endeavor to...

Chazaq strength is a gift. It?s a calling. And it is desperately needed in this world that overflows with loud, boisterous power. What is needed is more restoring strength. More gentle strength. More merciful strength.
?Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in YAHUAH.?
? Psalms 31:24
True manhood isn?t about taking more ground for yourself and leaving others on islands of sinking sand. It?s about standing firm in your calling to lead with gentle strength as Master Yahusha did. It is kneeling under His authority ? so that you may stand in the power of yours.
A Strength That Reflects our Father
When YAHUAH calls men to be strong, He is calling them to reflect His own heart:
True strength is born not of pride, but of divine presence. Not of self-glorification, but of humble servanthood. The world needs men of chazaq, surrendered chazaq. Men who build altars, not empires. Men who restore what has been fractured, not hoard power. Men who reflect the strength of the Father, not the strong arm of the flesh.

Men Who Choose Surrendered Chazaq
To every man who bows his knees to ONE greater than he. To the man who bears the responsibility of the power he has been given with humility and perpetual self-reflection. To the man who willingly carries unseen struggles, yet who leads resolutely ? gently. To the man who fight spiritual battles few will ever see, who stands and perseveres when it would be easier to give up...
You are walking in the strength ????????of the Creator. YAHUAH is Chazaq! You are Chazaq!
Be strong and courageous man of YAHUAH, not because the world has your back ? or because you are strong enough fight your way through any adversity or battle any adversary. Be strong because ha?Ruach (spirit) of YAHUAH is with you, in you ? in humility and in strength. True chazaq is strength under YAHUAH's guidance and control!

Men of Tsyun (Zion), this is your legacy: To be men of chazaq as our forefathers of old. Your mission is to stand firm in truth. To repair what is broken. To love intensely. To protect the weak. To awaken those who remain asleep. To encourage the downtrodden. To speak the truth of Turah near and far. To embody YAHUAH?s chazaq in a failing and sinful world in desperate need of it.
